St. Patrick's Day SONGS AND RHYMES

Sung to: "I'm a little teapot"
I'm a little leprechaun Dressed in green; The tiniest man That you ever seen. If you ever catch me, it is told, I'll give you my pot of gold! (Another version) Leprechaun, leprechaun, dressed in green, The tiniest person that I’ve ever seen! What are you going to do with all that gold? Run away and hide it, I’ve been told. If I was a leprechaun, this is what I’d do – I’d give all my gold to you, and you, and you. Do your ears point up? (Pull on tops of ears.) Do you have a lot of luck? (Cross fingers.) For gold do you dig? (Pretend to dig.) Can you dance an Irish jig? (Dance a jig.) If you answered, "Yes," (Nod head.) You're a leprechaun, I'd guess! (Wink eye.) Shawn, Shawn, the leprechaun Danced through the forest with a green suit on. You can chase him all day long Come too close and “poof” he's gone. This little leprechaun slid down the rainbow, This little leprechaun stayed home. This little leprechaun picked a shamrock, This little leprechaun found some gold. This little leprechaun cried, "See if you can catch me," As he ran home. A leprechaun is small and green, He hides where he cannot be seen, But if you catch one on this day, He must give all his gold away! (Tune:Eensy Weensy Spider) An eensy, weensy leprechaun Came out St. Patrick's Day To look for all he gold That was hidden far away. At the end of the rainbow Was where he was told - So, with the wink of his eye, He ran for the gold. Five little leprechauns running out to play, Found a big rainbow blocking their way! Follow me, cried one, running fast and bold, He slid down the rainbow towards the pot of gold! (Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb) I'm a little leprechaun, Leprechaun, leprechaun, I'm a little leprechaun, Who likes to hide my gold! I dress in green from head to toe, Head to toe, head to toe, I dress in green from head to toe, I wear green all day long! You'll never catch me or my gold, Or my gold, or my gold, You'll never catch me or my gold - I hide it much too well! Patrick is a leprechaun, He has a sack of gold, He hides it in a special place, Between two stumps, I'm told, I think I saw Patrick, Out in the woods one day, He smiled and laughed and winked his eye, And then he ran away! Don't try to follow Patrick, to find his treasure sack, He'll twist and jump and run away, And he never will come back! Leprechauns can jump, Leprechauns can hop, Leprechauns can dance around, Pop, pop, pop! Leprechauns can sing, Leprechauns can play - Slide down a rainbow, Happy St. Patrick's Day! |
