The teaching theme focus for this packet is Pets, with the emphasis on CATS. This is the third of 3 units about Pets. The other 2 units focus on an overview of all pets, and dogs.
This pack is developmentally appropriate for preschool and pre-K children, and would be especially helpful as part of a "Families" early childhood curriculum, or taught in November with other units about family and neighborhood.

Besides the activities, songs, stories and games listed for the day, this pack includes these centers and printables:
• Cats - connect the dots.
• Center - Categorizing photos of cats into domesticated cats and wild animals. Which ones could we keep as pets? How are they similar, and different?
• Cats clip cards center. Print on card, cut out. Children clip correct set number with a clothes pin.
• Small group – one to one correspondence and number stories with cats and balls of yarn.
• Cat masks, stick puppets or heads for paper bag puppets. Color and b/w.
• Cats emergent reader – what do we need to do for our pet cat?
• Upper case alphabet letters - use to make recognition and matching games, bulletin board etc.
• Cat photo 6-piece puzzle. Print 2 copies, cut up one and match to the other.
• Story starter coloring page: “Cats need to visit the vet because…”
• Printable – Cats like to play with small toys. Draw some toys for these cats.
• Connect cats and food bowls by tracing the lines.
• Center – cats order by size.
