- Large open lunchbox categorizing mat.
- Set of 22 “lunchbox sized” cards to sort.
- Set of 22 labeled flashcards to use with a group to encourage ideas and discussion.
- A follow up printable where children can draw some things that they might put in a lunchbox.
Some ways to use:
- Small group: Encourage children to talk about some things they might pack in a lunchbox in preparation for a picnic or for school. Spark some ideas by showing a few of the flashcards. Write down their ideas on the “list” printable. Have the children give reasons why some things should or should not be eaten for lunch.
- Center: Set out the lunchbox sorting mat and the smaller set of cards. The children make choices about the items to pack. Not all the cards need to be used.
- Follow up worksheet: Children draw their own ideas about some things to pack in a lunchbox
