This is a Community Helpers themed teaching topic, including group and individual activities, centers and printables, focusing on oral language and social studies development for preschool, pre-K and Kindergarten children.

Click the PREVIEW collage photo and hover your mouse over it to see many pages and to make sure this is the educational level you are looking for.

Includes:
  • 24 large cards showing places where people can work (color)
  • 24 community workers (color)
  • 24 half page posters showing workers at the place where they can work (b/w)
  • 24 large word/picture (word wall) strips naming the job of each neighborhood helper (color)

Ways to use:
  • Match each worker to the card showing the place where they could work
  • Match each worker to their corresponding word/picture strip
  • · Match each place of work to the corresponding word/picture strip
  • Choose one b/w poster, discuss it. The children can “read”, color and trace the words, plus draw other job-related items to the picture.
  • :Make a class or individual booklet out of some or all of the b/w posters. A booklet cover is included.

Discussion topics
  • What does this worker do when they are at work?
  • How do they help us?
  • Can they work at other places besides the one shown here?
  • Do you know anyone that does this kind of work?
  • Would you like to do this kind of work? Why or why not?
  • Does this worker usually wear a “uniform”? What do you think the reason is for that?
