Winter seasonal changes numbers, literacy and science activities and centers for preschool and pre-K.
This pack is developmentally appropriate for preschool and pre-K children and would work well in a Winter or January seasonal curriculum plan.
Besides the activities, songs, stories and games listed for the day, this pack includes these centers and printables:
• Categorizing summer and winter items onto a mat
- Winter clothes cards – Use for vocabulary, recognition, matching, Memory/Concentration
• Ice discoveries – observe ice cube melting indoors and out. What happens? Why? If you have snow, catch some on a piece of dark paper. Ice melting sequence cards.
• Cut and paste or center – place seasonal trees onto mat. What does this tree look like in Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer?
• Cut and paste – dress boy or girl character according to the weather today.
• Trace and draw – “What’s the weather like today?”
• Set of numbered (0-10) children dressed in various outfits that might be worn in cold or rainy or winter weather. You could tape craft sticks to make stick puppets. They can be used for number recognition and sequencing. Also, ask questions about the clothes, and why those things might be worn.
• Write the word WINTER on a long piece of construction paper, and the children can match these BIG letters to it.
• When we wake up in the morning, and see frost covering the ground, we pretend that Jack Frost has come by and made the frost. Draw a picture of your interpretation of Jack Frost.
• 6-piece puzzle – Periwinkle rain boots.
• Graphing – small group, large group, and individual printable pages included. What would you like to drink after playing outside in the winter weather: hot cocoa, warm apple juice with cinnamon, or chicken noodle soup
