Includes -
- 3 different colorful farm backgrounds, plus the same backgrounds in b/w
- 18 farm animals and other items to place/paste on the backgrounds. Plus the same items in b/w.
- labels for each of the items
- 3 detailed coloring/vocabulary/storytelling pages
- 8 pages of large farm items to decorate and make into murals or bulletin board décor, in b/w.
Some ways to use this activity -
• Make a center – teacher can print on cardstock and laminate a background and characters. Children can place characters on the background as they like, or according to directions. For example, by number, by color, by type of animal etc.
• Individual activity – each child can cut out the characters and glue/paste on a background. Teacher can pre-cut the characters for children who are not cutting yet.
• Following directions – emphasizing vocabulary. Teacher can ask children to place items by direction – by name of character (hen, cow etc.), or by position (beside the barn, above the pig etc.)
• Matching pairs – print 2 copies of each character – match the pairs on a background.
• Tell a story – child tells what is happening as they place items on the background.
• Label characters – older children and ESL students can place a word label beside or on each character.
• Coloring pages – children can color the pages as they like, or as directed by the teacher. For example, “Color the chicken orange”. Also, the colored character pieces can be matched and pasted onto the b/w characters.
• Make a mural – Cut out and paste the large farm items on a large piece of paper, or tape on the wall or a bulletin board to make a farm mural.
