This is a flexible activity to use with early learners to help them to recognize the letters in their name. The alphabet cards sets can also be used as flash cards; for hiding and finding games; for a wall alphabet strip; for sorting into color groups; for coloring and decorating; or for any other activity that you can think of.
86 pages
Includes: A set of large colored letters in both upper and lower case (2 to a page); a set of large black and white letters in upper and lower case (2 to a page); a set of medium colored letters in both upper and lower case (4 to a page); a set of medium black and white letters in upper and lower case (4 to a page); 3 styles of a recording sheet in b/w.
How to set up the Read the Room activity:
• Choose the letters you want to use to post around the room on the wall, and on furniture etc. (Colored or b/w? Upper or lower case? All of them, or only those that occur in the names of your group of children?)
• Print them, cut them out, and post on the wall. (Laminate if you wish.)
• Choose which recording sheet you want the children to use, and write each child’s name in large letters in the rectangle space.
• Give each child their recording sheet (with their name you wrote on it) on a clipboard, plus a marker.
• The children walk around the room - when they see a letter that appears in their name, they can trace it, color it, or scribble over it, on their recording sheet.
• When they have found all the letters in their name, they can draw a picture of themselves on the page.
