Includes:
- Anchor Charts: Introduce the concept, and post on the wall.
- Center: 12 colorful photos of things that are familiar to the children, and are usually seen or done during the day, or seen or done during the night. The children can sort them onto 2 labeled category mats. Print on cardstock and laminate if desired.
- Cut and Paste activities: The children cut and paste b/w pictures, similar to those in the center, into the 2 categories of day and night on each worksheet.
- Foldable Mini Booklets: “Things I Can do in the Day Time”, and “Things I can do at Night Time”.
- Draw/Write T-charts: Children draw a picture of something they might see in the day or night time, and also something they might do. Teacher can write their describing words if desired.
- Other activities: The picture cards are big enough to use as flash cards in a small group session, discussing the concepts and vocabulary of day and night. Also, comparisons can be made by holding up 2 of the pictures, and asking which is probably day-related, and probably night-related. Explain that you are thinking how the objects would be/exist “in real life”, to help the children transfer the idea of the picture to something they have experienced previously.
