Math Mats
I love math mats. Although the basic idea is to count sets of items onto a base, there are so many other learning skills involved - counting one-to-one (saying the name of the number as each item is placed); "reading" the numeral; storytelling; conversations; new vocabulary; design (choosing item placement); and extending thematic learning in social studies and science concepts.
